Korean Spicy Chicken Stir Fry (닭갈비) : Korea Trip Vlog 3

Because I’m a chef, people always ask me if I’m critiquing food as I eat it.  The truth is that I don’t. The only time I do is when something tastes so exceptional that it perplexes me.  Then I become radio silent and start chewing slowly.  Inside my brain is a monkey on a computer taking down notes while I’m trying to break down why something is so delicious and why in the world I’m not making it already.  This is the experience I had eating Korean Spicy Chicken Stir Fry (닭갈비).

On days 6-7 of our Korea Trip, we spent a little more time at the hospital getting to know our newborn twin nephews more.  We had to eat mostly around the hospital, but luckily, there were no shortage of good restaurants there.

Our tour guide Joel, Joe’s brother and resident foodie, took us to eat one of the best fried rices I’ve had.  First you eat your tender well seasoned chicken, and then you eat fried rice with your leftover sauce and chicken bits.  The only thing I could think about is “why is the sauce so fiery red but not that spicy?”  It has stumbled me.  I’ve had this type of chicken before in the states, but it’s always so sweat-inducing hot.  Why oh why Korea have you ruined me?  You can watch us eat this chicken in our third Korea Trip vlog below.

So far, we’ve been able to experience Korea as a true Korean living here because of our family responsibilities.  It’s been kind of fun pushing cars out of the way, driving on the busy streets, dropping our niece off at the bus stop, and eating foods that are not necessarily fancy, but scrumptious.  Since this vlog, we’ve done so much more so keep watching as our Korea trip series continues.
