ABOUT

Hi I’m Julie, your kitchen coach!

I’m a trained chef who’s all about helping beginner cooks gain kitchen confidence. That means I like to focus on the basics and teach kitchen survival skills through my easy recipes and videos. Because I’m also a busy mom, everything has to be simplified. Therefore, my recipes are approachable, reliable, and proven to make it into your dinner rotation.

I’m a former fashion designer turned chef with professional experience in food styling, production baking, and catering. I also taught in-person private cooking lessons before I started teaching online. If you want to read more about my background, I wrote a blog post about my culinary journey HERE.

What else? I also love reality shows, thrifting, and coffee. I divide my time filming videos and being a mom. If you want to know more about my life beyond the kitchen, stop by our blog or vlog channel.

Welcome to our Yooniverse!

I started our blog and main YouTube channel with my art director husband Joe (who by the way doesn’t cook at all, but takes amazing photos). He helps me with everything you see here, but also works as a media director for our church. We live in the suburbs of Chicago together with our spunky son, Lincoln.

In 2015 we had a successful Kickstarter campaign which helped us raise funds to create our online cooking show, Bits & Pieces. There are 5 seasons of our show, so take some time to browse through our videos to get some cooking inspiration today!

We spend our days doing creative work together, hanging out with our son, and trying to juggle it all. Join our Yooniverse community by signing up for our mailing list, subscribing to our channel, and staying connected on our socials. Thanks for stopping by and we hope you stay hungry for more!

  • Hi Mrs. Julie,
It was nice to see your coaching video on “Sweet & Spicy Nuts” roasting.
I am a beginner in Roasted Nuts manufacturing business. I am facing three big problems in my roasted nuts as follows:
    1. Roasted & salted nuts (Almonds) losing crunchiness after 10 – 20 days
    2. Nuts start releasing odor after 40 – 50 days even having Nitrogen filled metal can
    3. In case of Sweet & Savory seasoning, nuts seasoning start melting with in 5 – 10 minutes on the serving plate.
As a result I am losing business.

Would you please help me with you guidelines to prevent the said three problems. I would be grateful.
    Thanks & Regards,
