Vlog: Weekend Trip with Friends in Washington State

I’ve never harvested my own seafood and eaten it right on the beach before… well, until we went away on a short trip with our friends, Jane and Sam.  They got married, and moved to Seattle.  But ever since they got there, they became really out doors-y and “granola.”  Oh… you know…the type that shops at REI, hikes on vacations, and goes camping on the weekends… aka healthy and active.

So thanks to them, we ate organic yogurts, walked on trails, hung out in a cabin, ran around on a farm, and gathered our lunch straight from the ocean… all in one weekend.  After Joe and I returned to California, we wanted to sleep for days. And of course, I had to capture our shenanigans in a video.

It all began when Joe and I went to Seattle for vacay- you already saw our other videos RIGHT?

Jane and Sam were kind enough to let us stay with them and use their car to explore the city- even without them, because they were busy working. Well, after we were done drinking coffee, snacking, and sticking wads of gum on a wall for a couple of days, it was the weekend.

They wanted to make sure they spent quality time with us, so we made our way to Whidbey Island, located a couple hours from their place.  Thanks to Jane and her work, we got a discount to stay there at a cabin for cheap. On top of that, they prepared everything else we could possibly need to make our weekend trip a very fun and active one.

I even ended up borrowing some of Jane’s sports-y waterproof clothing whilst digging for mussels.  If it wasn’t for her, I would’ve been wading in the ocean with skinny jeans and a red wool coat.

After we came back from a successful day at Penn Cove Beach, we immediately cooked our catch.

It was fun cooking at the cabin together, and everyone was such good sports about being filmed. We all took turns working the camera to help put this video together.  It really did feel like a whole production!

But if you’re Curious George about what else we did on our trip, you can WATCH our VIDEO below:

We’re so lucky to have experienced such a fun weekend. If you’re ever touring Seattle, I highly recommend checking out Whidbey Island too, especially if you want a change of pace from the city. And a big holler and shout-out to our super thoughtful and generous friends, Jane and Sam, for making our trip so memorable.
