Lunch at Coppola Winery

Lunch at Coppola Winery

Coppola winery is a great place to spend time with your family, kick back with a glass of wine, grab some lunch outdoors, and enjoy the scenic views.  If you don’t believe me, you can just ask Dianna Agron, aka “Quinn Fabray” from Glee.  Yeah, after I got up from my seat from lunch, she sat in my place.  Yup that’s right… Dianna Agron’s butt touched my butt… sort of… um…whatever.

And how do I know this?  Because my brother-in-law spotted her first and asked me to go check to make sure it was her.  So of course I nonchalantly strolled back out to our table area, sipping on some wine, whilst secretly staring at her through my glass.

When I came back and informed everyone that I thought it was her too, my husband and sister raced out there like a couple of teenage girls to check for themselves.  But no one could tell for sure.  You know how celebrities always look slightly different in real life.

So my husband decided to become a stalker and read her twitter.  Lucky for us, she actually tweeted that she was in the area enjoying time with her family.  Yup, we’re creepy like that.  You know how we do.

My parents were visiting my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew in NorCal, and Joe and I drove up from SoCal to meet them there.  Because my sister is a member of a wine club, they frequent vineyards often.  So this time, they took us to Coppola.

As soon as you drive through the luscious green entrance, you climb the steps to a building, with a beautiful pool…

…and a cafe/restaurant called, Rustic.  Love their clever drawing on the wall.

The weather was gorgeous, so we spent some time walking around the vineyard and grounds.

We played a little soccer…

…some hide and seek…

…and had a photo session.

Then we sat down to lunch.  This was our back drop.  Isn’t it ah-maze?

Our waiter was kind enough to provide for us our one and only group photo of the day.

We ordered stuff like chopped cobb salad.  Boy, I feel bad for the person who had to chop all that.  No I don’t.  I’m a kitchen nerd and love cutting things into uniform pieces.  When I was in culinary school, I’d volunteer to chop the huge bowl of fruit salad every night.  So my chef instructor used to refer to me as “Julie Fruit.”

We also had some meatballs and marinara… hello one lonely basil leaf.

…fettuccine with clams….

…and a couple pizzas.  My nephew looks as if he’s thinking, “is that all for me?”

And of course we had to risk looking like Asian tourists for the sake of this blog.

The weather was crisp and cool, but the sun was warm.  The views were calming and beautiful.  The staff was friendly, the food was good, and the company was even better.  Is there anything else?

Although there aren’t any crazy tours or air trams at this winery, it’s just a nice place to grab lunch, walk around, sip on some refreshing drinks in the cool breeze, and stalk people relax with your family in peace.  Next time you’re in the area, go check it out.  And who knows, maybe your butt might touch my butt too.
