Woo hoo! This was our last episode of Season 2 and we finished filming it just in the nick of time! We were literally racing the construction workers as they were resurfacing the siding and redoing all the roofs of all the condo units in our entire complex, and we received a notice that they were going to start work on our unit that day!
God definitely has a sense of humor because for the past several weeks, we’ve been cranking out our last few episodes as fast as we could, well knowing that they would probably start on our unit soon. And wouldn’t you know it… as soon as we were wrapping up the last scene of our last episode, they started hammering on our walls! In fact, you can hear the banging towards the end of our video as we’re making our closing remarks, but that’s okay. I know you all don’t mind.
In our behind the scenes video, I show you a little clip of my newly decorated office, but it was kind of a waste of time to put all those decorations up because as soon as the hammering started, and the walls began shaking, I had to take everything down again. Doh!
But at least the decorations were up while we shot the intro. This was another collaboration video with Lktoepfer, aka our friend Lee from 6kidsproductions, so I decided it would be cute to have her on my computer screen in the background while I was talking.
This wasn’t the easiest shoot because we faced a few different challenges this day, but we managed to push through and still get the job done. You can come behind the scenes with us and watch us shoot our Homemade Skillet Pizza episode below:

Not only were we frantically racing the clock, but I was also struggling with eye issues. My contact were like, “nope… I’m not sticking to your eyeballs today.” So I had to bust out my glasses, which wouldn’t normally be a big deal, but we had so many scenes where I was looking down, so they kept sliding off my face, and then I’d touch my face with flour all over my hands. Yeah that got old fast.
And then we took so much care and attention to make sure our microphone was on for every scene, especially since we were competing against the sawing and hammering noises outside, only to realize later that it was actually broken! There went our sound quality! Oh well…C‘est la vie!
We were also nervous about the photoshoot because I knew that pizza has a short window of time where it looks gorgeous and mouthwatering, and then it turns congealed and stale looking. But we did get that oozy scrumptious stringy cheese shot I was hoping for in the end!
Even with all these shenanigans, since this was our last episode, I felt like both Joe and I were a little more chill this day. We just enjoyed the ride and rolled with the punches. We were both smiling, laughing, and having more fun. This was probably my favorite behind the scenes video to date.
We’re so proud of what we accomplished in Season 2, and we’re so excited for Season 3.
