A Parisian Baby Shower

A Parisian Baby Shower

We (the 5 of us-which included me and my sister’s friends) threw my sister, Christina, a diva-licious Parisian themed baby shower at a gorgeous rented room located in Philadelphia.  We asked Joe to help with all the design and labels as well as maternity photos scattered about the place.

There were a few requests from the guest of honor, one of them being “no little animals everywhere,” “not so cute-sy,” and more “grown-up.”  I think we made sure that no detail was overlooked and came together to throw a festive yet elegant baby shower fit for any pregnant francophile!

The diaper cake was made out of designer Cynthia Rowley and jean diapers, and all the macarons were scratch-made by Grace.  Can you believe this crazy girl stayed up all night to bake them?  Now that’s a good friend!

Talena and Helen went nuts with the decor & setting up the activity stations, while Cheryl really delivered with the games and being the master MC for the day.  We tried to keep the guests distracted busy because my sister ended up being about an hour late to her own shower!  At first we didn’t tell them why, because we didn’t want them to worry.

But eventually, as time ticked on and food got cold, we had to let them know.  You might not believe it but she got into a minor car accident on the way over to her own party… what are the odds!  Don’t worry, she and the baby are both ok since it was so minor, but the police report and all that craziness took a while.  She finally came to the shower all frazzle dazzled.  And for the record, no it was NOT her fault…

Thank goodness for the complimentary Keurig machine drinks (I REALLY want one for my own home), French music and blazing fireplace, which kept the guests occupied and satiated while they waited for the guest of honor to make her grand entrance.

But finally, they got their grub on and not a crumb was left on a single platter.  The games were also a hit, since they weren’t the typical “guess the poo in the diaper” using different melted chocolate kind… and winners even walked away with beautiful pashmina scarves!  How practical and French, no?  My brother-in-law, Dan, came at the end of the party to help open the presents.  My sister really enjoyed everything and had a great time, despite the frustrating car accident incident.  She even gave all the helpers little gifts of fancy chocolate and Stila lip glosses at the end to express her gratitude.  Glad I could be there for the party shenanigans bananagans.  Excited to meet my little nephew Hyden soon!
