Halloween Recipe for Kokoliving Magazine

Halloween Recipe for Kokoliving Magazine

Kathy, the Editor-in-Chief for Kokoliving.com’s online magazine, asked me if I wanted to contribute a recipe for either October or November. Although creating a Thanksgiving side dish would’ve been easier and right up my alley, I wanted to challenge myself and make a creative and fun recipe for Halloween.

However, let me tell ya, the experience of making these cupcakes is a WHOLE other story, which I’ll save for on upcoming entry when I post the recipe and step by step instructions.  But don’t be frightened, they’re actually pretty easy to execute. But that’s only after I came up with these cute marshmallow monsters after a couple trial dessert disasters and flops.  Thankfully, my friend Ashley was over that day to help me decorate, keep calm, and carry on.  But back to the magazine…

Inside the October/November Issue of Kokoliving magazine, you will find great features of kids in costumes, interviews with fabulous designers, ideas for a Thanksgiving table setting, and lots of fashion.

And there’s even an article about the smart couple behind Goggi brand “Bulgogi” flavored Korean Beef Jerky from Artisan Snacks.  Sound familiar?  They should. Remember my feature and giveaway?

But I think the main star of this issue was definitely Marja Vongerichten, host of the ever-growing in popularity cooking and travel show, “The Kimchi Chronicles.”  I DVR that show and it’s definitely fun watching her discover and eat food in Korea with Heather Graham, or cook bulgogi with Hugh Jackman!

In fact, she even snagged the cover and is Kokoliving’s “Woman of the Year.”  She’s definitely instrumental in demystifying Korean food and making it more popular.

It’s pretty cool because she just participated in Kokoliving’s “Night on the Rooftop” Event in NYC, where she did a book signing.  And since Kathy from kokoliving.com is pictured here with Marja, and I often communicate with Kathy, I like to believe that Marja and I are basically best friends through association.

Alright, even though that’s not true, I was still extremely flattered when I introduced myself to Marja through her facebook fan page, and she wrote back saying that her daughter Chloe was “obsessed” with my monster cupcakes and wanted to duplicate them.  That definitely put a pep in my step.  So go to kokoliving.com to read the full magazine, as well as my article, and be sure to check back here for my behind the scenes story of the shenanigans I went through to put this article together!
