This week my parents are in town visiting from Philadelphia. They couldn’t wait to meet Lincoln because they had been waiting 8 1/2 years for us to have a baby in the first place! I secretly thought to myself, “I can’t wait until they get here so that someone else can relieve me from the laundry and the dishes!” But I find that now they’re here, I’m just as busy as ever…even busier actually because it’s twice the number of dishes and the feeding schedule / chores / sleep deprivation are the same for me.
But I realized that this is not the reason they’re here. I want them to feel like they’re on vacation (since they’re still not retired), and I want to give them moments to enjoy their grandson and form a bond. It’s hard sometimes because I don’t have any of my family here with me in Chicago, but I’ll take this week and treasure it. ❤ #thelincolnlog
