Say Hello to Our New Kitchen : NEW Kitchen Tour!

Say hello to our NEW kitchen! We moved and I wanted to give you an official tour, as well as share my thoughts of the place that’s going to be our new “set” of our cooking show!

As you know, we said a bittersweet goodbye to our old home and kitchen. It had been the place where we grew to over 76,000 YouTube subscribers, and where we filmed for the past 6 years. This is where Lincoln grew up, and we had too many memories to just move out without giving it a proper goodbye. So back and watch our saying goodbye to our kitchen video if you missed it.

But now it’s onto a new chapter and we have a new central hub of our home. Even though it’s definitely bigger and brighter, it oddly took a long time for me to feel like it was ours. You can hear more of my thoughts on why in our video.

Truth be told, I still have issues figuring out where to place and store things, or maneuver around naturally when cooking things like Thanksgiving dinner. Speaking of Thanksgiving, we filmed a video of what we did this year. In case you missed it, you can watch our Thanksgiving 2020 video.

Unlike our previous kitchen, this one was pretty “move-in ready,” and fortunately we didn’t have to do any renovation. Our old kitchen was completely gutted out and custom built, but this one has been left untouched. In fact, we haven’t even had the chance to put our own personal touches in our kitchen at all, like adding the exact fixtures we want, or painting our walls to make it feel more like our aesthetic.

Even though we’re thankful that our kitchen looks clean, neutral, and bright, we definitely encountered some frustrating moments too. We had problems with fuzzy critters and the presents they left behind, flooding that trickled down to the basement, and problems with the appliances.

Also, it is quite beige.

We’ll probably share more of our adventures in greater detail on our second vlog channel, Life with Julie Yoon. We’ve been filming during our process from the move until now, so make sure you subscribe to that channel so you can get an inside look and stay in the loop of the process of us making this house our home.

But now that we’ve had some time to settle in, I’m finally starting to find my footing here and really enjoying the positive things about our kitchen, like the semi-open layout and the tons of sunlight we get streaming through our windows every morning. All the little things that once bothered me when we first moved in have now faded into the background. We’ve been able to work around some of the problems and adapt to the others.

We also shot our first episode of our cooking show here already, and although it took a little problem-solving to figure out where to rig the lights and cameras, I think it came out really well! Make sure you go back and watch our Spicy Octopus Stir Fry with Noodles Recipe video.

And to celebrate the fact that we were filming from our new home, we decided to do a giveaway in partnership with Seoul Mills! They decided to give away 8 packs of Spicy Octopus Stir Fry Mix Kits to one lucky winner straight from the seas of Korea, and we announced the winner in our video!

So congrats to our winner and thanks for playing everyone! I hope to do more giveaways in the future because this was fun and I love giving a little something back to you guys just to say thanks for following us through the years.

As I look around our kitchen today, I am happy that it’s starting to feel like the pulse of our home again. It’s usually messy, covered in dishes and Lincoln’s projects, but I’m grateful that this is the place where we can sustain our family and invite you in to our home with every recipe. We may not be able to have an official “house warming,” during this pandemic with our family and friends, but we are so thankful that we get to share it with you in this way!

So whether you’ve just joined our Yooniverse or have been part of our community since the beginning, we warmly welcome you into our new kitchen, and hope as always that you will stay hungry for more!

xo, Julie
