It’s funny when I look back at the actual episode we shot for our Chewy Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies, because in our video, I look so calm and peaceful, like I’m just puttering away quietly in our kitchen, baking up some holiday cheer. This was our Christmas episode, so we switched up the music, showed imagery of our Christmas tree, and made it more festive.
But then I remember what REALLY went on behind the scenes, and it’s pretty hilarious. I guess that’s the magic of editing huh? If you look closely in our video, you’ll see I’m wearing a bandage on my finger, because I somehow sliced myself that morning before filming. Who slices their finger when they’re BAKING?
And then a bunch of other things went weird too. I guess that’s Murphy’s law right? But you can check it out and see how things went down in our Behind the Scenes video of the making of our Christmas episode below:

I do regret not investing in this episode a little more and running out to get an outfit that was a little more holiday-ish. I don’t own anything red, green, or even jewel-toned, so I just threw on whatever I had. At least Joe made up for it by adding a nice pop of color on camera.
But as you saw in our video, we’re happy to report that our light that suffered a fall in our last video was doing just fine. We were so nervous about it because we really did not want to have fork out more money to get it fixed or replaced. But it’s working great now and Joe’s especially thankful for our Christmas miracle!
I wasn’t sure at first if chocolate chip cookies were quite “holiday” enough for this episode, but I figured it made sense since I’m only baking for two. It’s not like Joe and I sit around making gingerbread houses together. So in the end, with the realistic storyline, I think it worked.

So everything went pretty smoothly, despite the little hiccups, and in the end, we got to relax by the light of our Christmas tree and eat cookies. Not bad for a day’s work!
