It’s been one full week since the launch of our Kickstarter project and here’s the dilly-o… it’s been a roller coaster. Joe seems to be hanging in there, but I’ll admit it… I’m weak sauce AND much more of an emotional person. When we get a new pledge, I’m giddy like a kid with ice cream (or like me with ice cream). When a full day passes and it’s slow on the funding front, I’m in the car halfway down to bummer-ville.
But that’s the way it goes when you put yourself out there and do a “make or break” project. You’re either gonna succeed or fail. So to say each day is nerve-wracking is an understatement. Still, Joe and I remain confident that this was the right decision and believe it or not, we’re actually enjoying the process- yes, with all our unstable emotions, and everything. Through this project, I’m learning that it’s not about the end goal, but rather the journey.
We’re definitely going to try our best, give it our all, and try to be excellent in whatever we do, but ultimately, we’re “letting go.” We can’t control what we can’t control. That’s in God’s hands. We can’t “make” things happen just because we want them to happen. So we decided that no matter the outcome, we’re not going to have any regrets for trying.
It’s been an adventure already, and in many ways, we’ve already been surprised. For one thing, when we first launched, our project Bits & Pieces was chosen to be a “staff pick,” which helped us to get funded 20% in one day!
That was amaze-fest USA, and we hoped it would last, but things are starting to slow down a bit because our project is getting pushed down lower within the staff picks. Hey, they do need to make room for other new projects popping up, and we can’t be selfish. There’s enough room in the staff picks section for all of us to share.
In this first week, we got surprised by not only the funding we received, but the interesting emails as well. One awesome person offered to send us fresh organic eggs from their backyard chickens so I could use them for my “inventive recipes”… no I’m not making this up!
On our Kickstarter page, we promised that you wouldn’t have to wonder about us because we would be transparent and share our progress with you every step of the way, so here is our project activity, for the first week.
As you can see, we have been funded 44% with 27 backers- that means 27 people believed in us enough to take the time out of their days to pledge money to our project. I mean, that’s so humbling, isn’t it? We are so thankful. Really, words can’t express. We pray over each person who donates funds to us, because we are just so thankful for them. We ask God to bless them with more, and take care of their needs.
I’m still gonna try to post a couple new recipes, but imma be honest with you. Right now, with us moving to Chicago in 2.5 weeks, and simultaneously trying to promote our Kickstarter campaign, I can’t really focus. My apologies. But if we are successful, I’ll more than make it up to you. So just stick with us kid. Hang in there until the end of this project, and after we move, when we can breathe again. In the meantime, if you want to help, consider being a backer (you get rewards in return). Follow our progress, share our project on social media, and just root us on if you like what we’re doing.
