This year, I celebrated my birthday quietly with Joe and the stars and I don’t mean Brad and Angelina. Joe decided to take me to the Griffith Observatory in LA to spend a relaxed and quite educational day together.
I know this might seem like a very random and nerdy thing to do, but it was actually quite interesting and different from the norm. And one fun fact about me is that I LOVE museums, aquariums, zoos, and all things of that nature. We are Orange County folk, and don’t often go into the city, so we decided to make an entire day out of it.
We chose to eat a quick lunch at the Galleria in K-town before heading over and I’ve eaten there before, but I think I forgot about how much food they give you for so cheap. We totally could have shared one entree together, but didn’t know any better. We were so stuffed that we couldn’t even eat dinner.
The view from the Griffith was so beautiful and we even watched a show at the Planetarium that was pretty decent. It was like watching a movie in an IMAX theater, except the screen was on a huge domed ceiling and the movie was about the planets and constellations.
Although it was MY birthday, I decided to let Joe have his fun and we stayed until sunset so he could capture some scenic pictures. I am SUCH a selfless wife.
LA at night looks so romantic with all the twinkling lights. We stopped by a very fancy Coffee Bean on the way home to get ourselves a little latte treat (I love their iced vanilla lattes). And we sat outside, under a red umbrella, and next to the roaring outdoor fireplace as I updated my facebook status. What a perfect birthday for me… just my style, filled with cheap eats, beautiful views and an espresso drink.
