Can I just be truthful and tell you that it feels FANTASTIC to be missed? I haven’t had throngs of people flooding me with emails or tweets about how they miss my very existence, but I DID have a handful of friends, acquaintances, and even a stranger or two tap me on the shoulder and tell me that they missed my blog entries! Aw shucks. Sometimes it’s nice to be encouraged, because seriously being a blogger has its ups and downs. Sometimes you post something so frivolous or “trivial” in your eyes, and you get tons of comments and reactions. And other times, you pour your heart out and spend hours on making a video or creating a recipe and you get crickets. It just goes to show, you never know what will perk people’s interests.

But I digress. Like I was saying, it felt nice to be missed by the small handful of people who took the time to come up to me and say, “hey…you haven’t been blogging for a while.” Just because they noticed, I feel truly thankful. And just for that, I decided to blog again today and keep you in the loop. [...]

small bites east coast photo shoot

small bites east coast photo shoot

I am currently in Philadelphia without the husband, who is the designated photographer, but I wanted to take advantage of my family and some of my old school friends for a Small Bites photo shoot. This East Coast “photo shoot,” was accomplished through me taking all the pictures through my phone. It included two different states, three cities, two babies, and a pair of expectant parents. Here’s just a little tidbit of what my friends and family accomplished together. I’m definitely one lucky duck to have people in my life who gladly offer up their babies to be my models…free of charge! I even got an offer to photograph another baby when I get back to California. Yup, we are surrounded by babies right now, and that’s why we came up with the idea to start a foodie onesie line in the first place.

We did have to battle against some quick moving little ones, which resulted in a whole slew of unfocused, majorly blurry pictures, but I think we also got a few good ones. [...]

introducing small bites: our new baby

introducing small bites: our new baby

It seems like everyone and I mean everyone around us is having a baby right now. I think it just comes with our age and current season in life. We are already an Aunt and Uncle, and of course we love our niece and nephew! But now we have so many more babies to love because most of our friends are taking on the roles of first time parents. It’s definitely exciting! Let me tell you, my facebook news feed is covered with just pictures of babies! Since we wanted to join the party too, we’d like you to welcome to the world, our long awaited brand new baby, Small Bites! This is the “project” we’ve been lovingly nurturing lately, so we’re excited to FINALLY reveal it and share it with you!

Small Bites is a line we specifically designed to help kids develop an interest in food and even cooking, starting from an early age. We are beginning with baby onesies as a nod and tribute to all of our friends who are currently expecting, or have just become new parents. We thought it would be a fun way to first introduce healthy foods to young kids, through these cute and quirky characters. And of course the onesies would make perfect gifts for parents who are foodies!

But the real reason we are revealing this to you TODAY is because it also happens to be my 30th birthday! That’s right! I thought it would be fun and symbolic to celebrate a new chapter in our lives, and the “birth” of our business, on a day that is an important landmark to me. Woah…deep. [...]

featured friday: sarah lee from seoulinthecity.com

Sarah Lee is a business woman, restaurant consultant, and blogger for seoulinthecity.com. I was first introduced to her site through my friend Catherine, and decided to reach out to say hello several months back. I was pleasantly surprised when she contacted me recently to tell me about an exciting project she’s working on with Seoul Tourism Organization, and asked if I would be able to help promote it. After reviewing her project, I agreed to do it, but last minute thought it would be much more interesting to feature her and her site as well. But since I didn’t give Sarah much time to answer questions on such short notice, this is more of an abbreviated version of an interview.

But in any case, it won’t take you long to figure out that she is one talented and interesting busy bee! Sarah is originally from Chicago but currently lives in Korea, hence the name of her site. I can totally relate to her because she left the interior design industry for the love of food and travel. [...]

featured friday: trizina premium extra virgin olive oil

Today I’m promoting an olive oil that hasn’t been produced yet. What? Have you ever heard of kickstarter? This is a great website devoted to helping small business owners and budding entrepreneurs receive funding, through total strangers, to help “kick start” their dream. A few people have urged us to give this a try, and I think we will one day soon too. That’s why when Georgia from Trizina Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil reached out to me to take a look at their kick starter link, I was immediately intrigued. Once I read their business plan and watched their video, I was on board to promote them to try to help them reach their goal.

Niko and Georgia have been in a relationship for about 7 years and live in New York City. They have been enjoying Niko’s family’s authentic Greek olive oil for years and love the way it enhances all of their meals at home. Niko always had the idea of producing more of this oil and sharing it with the public, but never took action until Georgia urged him that they should create more of it and share it with fellow foodies out there who would appreciate a superior quality extra virgin olive oil from ancient Greece. [...]

featured friday: scott yoon

Today I’m featuring Scott Yoon, no relation. Yes, we may not be related, but he could be my foodie brother from another mother. We met at church and soon discovered that we could talk about food with each other for hours. He has helped me out as one of my sous chefs for a few events, and even though he doesn’t have any formal culinary training, you wouldn’t know it.

I think the only thing I taught him was how to make a garlic paste, to make raw garlic more mild, when adding it to a dressing or sauce. That little tip blew his mind and he’s been using it ever since. But other than that, he already had knife skills, swiftness, ability to multi-task, and confidence when cooking. In other words, he can handle his own in the kitchen. [...]
