vlog: granola making adventure

vlog: granola making adventure

I tend to film vlogs whenever I get inspired, but then I usually don’t get around to editing them until way later. That was the case for this video. It was Fall time and I was in the mood to make an “Autumn Granola,” with tons of nuts and ruby red dried cranberries. Something about the crisp weather made me want to turn on my oven and make something sweet, crunchy and toasty to munch on.

Good thing my friend Vanessa was on the same wave length and wanted to make granola too. But this was our first time making it, so we came up with a recipe based off of whatever looked good at the market. Therefore the good news is that if you feel like making it too, you’ll be happy to know that this recipe is quite flexible. You can throw in whatever floats your boat. You can go here for the recipe. vlog: budget vegas trip

vlog: budget vegas trip

We were on a budget but still decided to go on a last minute road trip to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving because we weren’t able to be with our family this year. Okay, I know that Thanksgiving was last month, but I still wanted to post our video of the fun time we had there. Even though we were kindly invited to several different homes by our lovely friends this year, we just wanted to get away and travel somewhere close by without spending a lot of money. Thanks to a tip from our friend Amy, we discovered that Vegas is quite cheap around this time of year. In fact, we were able to stay right on the strip for only $45.00!

This trip was just want I needed because I’ve been a bit stressed with the project we’ve been working on lately, so it was good to get away and enjoy each other’s company, without thinking about anything for a moment.

I decided to try something new and film this entire video on my phone! So pardon all the nauseating shaky cam and grainy dark footage. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but now that I know how to use it better, next time I’ll try to make our videos clearer and less crazy. But I must say, filming these vlogs on my phone is way more convenient because I can be an incognito mosquito, and not have to carry around my tourist-looking video camera while everyone stares at me. chicken with tomatoes and dill

chicken with tomatoes and dill

Um, yeah. I came up with this recipe over a year ago, and we filmed this video while we were still living in our old place. Down the street from us was a Farmer’s Market. That’s where we were when I spotted a big bundle of fresh dill. This feathery fragrant herb was what inspired me to make this recipe in the first place.

Dill is most abundantly available around the Summer time, but don’t worry my friends. You can still make this recipe right now because I was recently at the grocery store and saw that they’re still selling it. But just in case they’re not, and you really want to give this recipe a try now, you can use dried dill, but cut the measurement for it in half since dried herbs are always more potent.

I’m definitely a fan of “smart cooking,” which really is a nicer way of saying, “lazy cooking.” I figure if I’m going to make a marinade, I might as well scoop out a little of it BEFORE the chicken hits it, and use it as a dressing too. Why not? Maximum flavor with minimum effort. [...]

vlog: what I bought at trader joes

vlog: what I bought at trader joes

Oh yes, I filmed a video about what I bought at Trader Joe’s. I saw on youtube that people were doing video blogs about “fashion hauls” and “makeup hauls,” for the sheer purpose of showing everyone what they bought at their favorite stores. As much as I adore clothes, the current Yoon budget doesn’t allow for me to purchase much fancy gear for myself right now, so I decided I would just show you what I bought at one of my favorite grocery stores!

My friends can all let out a sigh of relief, because today, they are off the hook. I didn’t include anyone in this video except myself. It’s a quick one, but it gets the job done. I’ve grown an appreciation for Trader Joe’s over the last couple of years. I don’t really know why, but it just makes me happy every time I’m in there. Maybe it’s because it has that “small town neighborhood grocery store” feel to it, or maybe it’s because my husband’s name is Joe… but in any case, just as much as I love Costco, I love Trader Joe’s! vlog: dinner at pizzeria mozza

vlog: dinner at pizzeria mozza

Judging by this fuzzy, dark, and unflattering freeze frame, you might think this is a video about me thoroughly enjoying some pizza. And you’re right! My friends and I went to Pizzeria Mozza, Mario Batali’s new restaurant in Newport Beach, located in Orange County, CA. We wanted to check it out and see if it really was all the rage. Of course I had to bust out my trusty video camera, which naturally made my friends vow that they would never invite me out to dinner again. But they always say that… and what do you know, after a few minutes, they turned all loosey goosey, and fully participated in my “review.” [...]

vlog: potluck party

vlog: potluck party

I promised you a video log of me taking my warm corn salad to a potluck party, and I don’t like to disappoint. There was no particular “theme” to this potluck, so I figured I’d bring something cheap, in season, and neutral enough to go with lasagna since our hosts, Min and Janice, said that’s what they would provide.

I somehow roped Joe and everyone else to be on camera. I’m starting to gain a reputation around town: “Don’t invite Julie to anything. She’ll video tape it and put it on youtube.” Yes, that’s true, but I do pick and choose! This video was a good one to be in though since there were multiple people involved so it was easy to hide in the crowd, which I’m sure everyone appreciated. [...]
