pardon us…

pardon us…

Last week we took a break from posting a new video because Joe was swamped and didn’t have time to edit one. This week, you’re just going to have to show us some grace, because in the words of Britney, oops… we did it again. BUT this time, it’s kind of a sad sob story. Right now, there is a contest from Kraft going on for RWOP, or Real Women of Philadelphia, regarding Philadelphia cream cheese and Paula Deen. Yep, that’s right… the one and only. In order to enter, you must create or already have a youtube account and post videos of your original recipes, using Philadelphia cream cheese. At first, I was too lazy to do it, but my blogging buddy, Kay encouraged me to do it since she was doing it and we were already posting videos on youtube anyhow. I still wasn’t convinced, but then one day out of the blue, I suddenly felt a strong urge to just go for it. [...]

hooray for more partnerships

hooray for more partnerships

Guess who’s a thankful gal? This chickie over here. I always feel the need to keep you updated with what’s been going on with us regarding this site, because you’ve all been going through this journey with us, step by step, since day 1. You were there when we announced our website re-launch, and you were there to encourage us when we posted our very first video. Joe summed it up best when he said to me one day, “we should always be grateful that people even spend 5 minutes of their lives to watch one of our videos.” Woah…deep. When he puts it that way, I feel honored.

A few posts ago, I shared that we were now partners with the site, kokoliving.com, where I would be their frequent guest chef blogger with my own section. It’s a great platform to post our videos and recipes to a new audience, outside of you faithful friends who visit here. Well, today, I wanted to share that we have become new partners with another site, called ifood.tv [...]

30 dollar challenge

30 dollar challenge

Normally today we’d be posting a new video. But alas, my poor tired husband has been swamped with work and other stuff, so he couldn’t edit one for this week. So we decided to give him a break. Yes I know you’re devastated. But your heart will go on, and so must the show, so instead, we bring to you the $30 challenge.

It all began when my friend Jinnie told me that her sister Jina was following the blog and wanted to meet me. You may recognize Jinnie from her featured friday interview. She’s very creative and a big supporter of this blog, so she wanted to give me a challenge so that I’d have new interesting content for an entry. [...]

hooray for partnerships

hooray for partnerships

A little while back, when I was in the height of my past catering days, I got a nice email from someone named Kathy who said she wanted to interview me for her website called kokoliving.com. I was surprised that she even knew who I was was, since she’s based in New York and I was catering in California. Kathy said that her website was all about featuring “Korean American women doing their thing.” I looked at her site, and she did a great job, along with her partners, in making the site relative to today’s modern Korean American woman, in an encouraging and uplifting sort of way.

Well my interview came out and Kathy found it amusing. I mentioned in the interview that maybe one day I’d like to start making videos. Kathy emailed me afterwards saying that if I ever do post videos, I can also post them on her site too. Fast forward to present day and I have finally started posting videos, as you all know. So I held her to her word and we are now blogging partners. [...]

i get by with a little help from my friends

i get by with a little help from my friends

When we moved to California two years ago, I felt lonely, homesick and unstable. I felt like we had no roots here, and it was weird to not have family and friends around. Slowly, I made friends, but those friendships were still on the superficial level. It sucked that no one truly understood me, or thought to call me up just to hang out. And maybe you can’t tell, but I am a social person. Yeah… shocker.

It was the worst on Sundays, when we’d go to church and people went dashing off after service to go to their dad’s birthday party, or sister’s baby shower. Joe and I would look at each other, shrug and go out the door, back to our quiet apartment to conclude our full weekend of no plans. Okay, if you hear a sad little violin playing in the background, I know… I’m being dramatic. But it doesn’t end there. This is a happy entry. [...]

housewarming and chicken wing tease

housewarming and chicken wing tease

Our friends, James & Ashley had a housewarming party, so I decided to bring chicken wings. What? Don’t you bring chicken wings to all of your housewarming parties too? Well, I got influenced by my new blogging buddy, Holly, from Beyond Kimchee, when she posted a recipe for Korean style chicken wings. I couldn’t stop drooling, so I just wanted an excuse to make them. [...]
