a double birthday surprise

a double birthday surprise

Sneaky friends Matt and Susanne wanted to plan something special for the birthdays of their spouses, Linda and Rob. So they joined forces and hired me to help them throw a cooking class birthday bonanza. It was pretty easy to fool their other halves since they’re all part of a little group of friends who always meet up for dinner anyways. So they told them to get in the car and made their way to their friend Jamie’s lovely house. [...]

a great knife for the home cook

a great knife for the home cook

I get this question asked of me ALL the time…what is my knife of choice? But it’s really no secret at all. I am biased and I play favorites. I love my Shun, which you will see me use often in my videos, but it can be a little scary to use for the home-cook. With that said, I absolutely ADORE my pink-handled special edition Kyocera ceramic santoku knife. And mind you, I am an UN-official spokesperson for them, but darn it, I should go into business with them, because I’m always a giddy school girl professing my love. Here’s WHY: [...]

Likewise, I tend to dread the Summer because of the intense, sweltering heat & humidity. I still have nightmares of going to work when I lived in NYC, after walking several blocks to the subway through thick humidity, waiting in the suffocating heat underground, drenched in sweat, and then hopping into a crowded car only to realize that you chose THE ONE car with the AC not working {{shudder}}! a parisian baby shower

a parisian baby shower

We (the 5 of us-which included me and my sister’s friends) threw my sister, Christina, a diva-licious Parisian themed baby shower at a gorgeous rented room located in Philadelphia. We asked Joe to help with all the design and labels as well as maternity photos scattered about the place.

There were a few requests from the guest of honor, one of them being “no little animals everywhere,” “not so cute-sy,” and more “grown-up.” I think we made sure that no detail was overlooked and came together to throw a festive yet elegant baby shower fit for any pregnant francophile! [...]

trick or treat at church

trick or treat at church

When the Church of Southland throws an event, we usually go all out. This year, for the Fall Fest, which is basically a Halloween party, open to all the neighborhood kids, there was everything from a dunk tank to a petting zoo! I helped in the days leading up to the bash by tracing and painting banner sized posters and cutting out laminated leaves to hang on the walls. Yes, apparently in California, we have to buy fall leaves. [...]
