Bring it on 2012!

Bring it on 2012!

I plucked a gray hair off my head.  It was the most discouraging kind…the one where it’s colored half and half because as it was growing, it started to lose pigment.  I naturally have black and I mean dark black hair, so when I have a menacing white hair, it’s totally noticeable.  I can’t be bothered with the truth or myth about when you pluck a gray hair, two more pop up in its place. When I spy one, out it must come! In fact, I think I have gray-hair radar.  Sometimes I even yank them out of my friends’ heads, often even without their approval.

I guess that just means that it’s time to face the music and embrace the fact that another year has passed, and I can officially kiss my twenties goodbye. Yes, in less than two weeks, I will be thirty.  But honestly, I don’t mind being 30. In fact, I’m actually looking forward to it. I hear that women gain confidence and become more comfortable in their own skin when they reach their thirties. That’s a good thing, so I’m hoping that this is true for me too. I’ll let you know.

But besides me becoming another year wiser, I’m looking forward to a ton of stuff this year:

1. We are starting a new side business. Remember that “project” I mentioned in an earlier sneak peek entry? It’s almost done now. We tried to launch it before Christmas, but for many reasons, it got delayed. But it will be out soon, so be on the look out.

2. We will be traveling quite a bit. We will be going to Philadelphia and Chicago for family obligations. Then I will be going back to the east coast again for weddings and what-not.

3. Speaking of weddings, I will be a bridesmaid for one of them. It’s for my close friend, who was a bridesmaid for my wedding, so I guess it’s kinda like the “circle of life” (cue Lion King music).

4. And speaking of friends, a lot of them will be popping out babies this year, so I’m excited to meet their little ones!  But at the same time, I’m also secretly sad that they will all be too tired and busy to hang out, and our friendship dynamics will change soon. C’est la vie!

5. On a brighter note, Joe and I have decided that this year is the year to bring our “sexy back.” That means healthier eating, and exercising, of course all in moderation. Hopefully this is not a phase, but rather a life-style. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

6. And since we are trying to work on our outsides, we want to work on our hearts as well. We hope to grow in faith and plan on even serving more at church.

7. As for our website and youtube channel, we plan to bring you a whole new “season” of good stuff. It’s been a great experience with many ups and downs in 2011. Through it all, I’ve been very thankful for all of you who continue to read this blog and watch our videos. Thank you for trying out my recipes, following us on vacations, posting our pictures on pinterest, being a fan on facebook, subscribing to our youtube channel, following me on twitter, etc.

It’s been difficult to maintain it all at times and I do get lazy or discouraged some days. But all in all, I really love what I do and that’s reason enough to keep doing it.

So bring it on 2012! There’s lots of things to look forward to, and I know there will be some difficult times ahead as well. But that’s all part of life and I’m ready for it. Have a blessed new year everyone and thanks for riding the waves with us!
