Vlog: Budget Vegas Trip

We were on a budget but still decided to go on a last minute road trip to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving because we weren’t able to be with our family this year. Okay, I know that Thanksgiving was last month, but I still wanted to post our video of the fun time we had there. Even though we were kindly invited to several different homes by our lovely friends this year, we just wanted to get away and travel somewhere close by without spending a lot of money. Thanks to a tip from our friend Amy, we discovered that Vegas is quite cheap around this time of year. In fact, we were able to stay right on the strip for only $45.00!

This trip was just want I needed because I’ve been a bit stressed with the project we’ve been working on lately, so it was good to get away and enjoy each other’s company, without thinking about anything for a moment.

I decided to try something new and film this entire video on my phone! So pardon all the nauseating shaky cam and grainy dark footage. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but now that I know how to use it better, next time I’ll try to make our videos clearer and less crazy. But I must say, filming these vlogs on my phone is way more convenient because I can be an incognito mosquito, and not have to carry around my tourist-looking video camera while everyone stares at me.

Although, we weren’t high-rollers, I never felt like we were missing out on anything. Well, I would’ve liked to watch a show, like the “Jabbawockeez” from America’s Best Dance Crew, but that’s okay. We can save that for next time.

Our trip consisted of packing our own lunch for the road and tracking down cheap treats…

and eats, mostly off the strip. We got a good steak and eggs deal thanks to a tip from my sister.

We aren’t much gamblers, so we spent our time walking on the strip, going in and out of nearly ALL of the hotel lobbies. I loved how every hotel was so uniquely themed, especially for the holidays.  I am a yule-zilla.  I love Christmas decor!

We especially enjoyed the architecture and found many photo ops.  Don’t you love how you can look at Vegas during the day and enjoy it for what it is, and then it transforms into a whole other glitzy place at night?  It’s like getting two vacation spots for the price of one!

You can watch more of our trip in our video below:

It truly was a nice time away from everything, and just what we needed.  I still missed our family and the traditional turkey dinner, but it was also nice to not have to cook for once!  Thanks for coming on our trip with us. It was fun discovering how to enjoy Vegas in style, even on a budget.
